Tiago Gouveia is due to begin pre-season with Benfica on 25 June after his loan at Nice ends. According to Glorioso 1904, the winger has been told to report to the Benfica Campus on that date.

The 24-year-old returns with the squad likely to be short, with several players at the 2026 World Cup. That could give him a chance to impress the new coaching staff and compete for a first-team place in 2026/27.

Under contract until 2028, he spent last season at Nice, who chose not to trigger an €8 million option to buy. He heads back to Seixal with his next step still open.

He has recently made clear he would gladly return, would not treat a Benfica pre-season as a write-off and does not plan to give up, aiming to show his qualities.

In 2025/26, across Benfica and Nice, he made 28 competitive appearances, 15 in Ligue 1, seven in the Europa League and two in the Coupe de France. He also featured once in the Ligue 1-2 play-off, once in the Champions League, once in Liga Portugal Betclic and once in the Supertaça, totalling 998 minutes and two goals. He is valued at €3.5 million.
