Leeds United will face Manchester United in a pre-season friendly at Dublin’s Croke Park on Wednesday 12 August, kicking off at 19:30, with ticket information released today.
Leeds United chief business officer Morrie Eisenberg said the club are pleased to return to Dublin, highlighting Croke Park’s stature and that it would host its first football match since 2009, adding it will be important preparation for the campaign ahead.
Pre-sale opens from four pm today for Leeds season ticket holders and members, with access also for Croke Park Premium and Suite members and for Manchester United members. General sale starts at 10am on Friday 10 April via Ticketmaster. Prices begin at €50 for adults and €25 for under-16s, plus booking fees.
The fixture, sanctioned by the FAI, is expected to draw a capacity crowd to the 82,300-seat venue, which is primarily used for Gaelic football.
The meeting will take one of English football’s fiercest rivalries to Ireland for the first time.
Leeds visited Dublin last summer and drew 1-1 with AC Milan at the Aviva Stadium, an occasion that attracted tens of thousands of their supporters from across Ireland, with many also travelling from the UK and Europe.
Both clubs have strong Irish links, with Roy Keane, Denis Irwin, John O’Shea and Frank Stapleton among United’s alumni, Gary Kelly and Ian Harte for Leeds, and Johnny Giles having represented both.
