Matchday 22 of Serie A is upon us and AC Milan are preparing to host Parma at San Siro. In the minds of the Rossoneri fans, there are no doubt many memorable matches full of goals and spectacle, including the 4-1 home win in the 2011/12 season. It was a midweek match on the ninth day of the season, 26 October, and it was Zlatan Ibrahimović and, above all, Antonio Nocerino, who proved stars of the show, which we will revisit with our Time Machine.
AC Milan, led by Massimiliano Allegri, were on good form, scoring a lot and enjoying themselves. Ahead of the home match against the Ducali came the 3-0 win at Palermo and the unforgettable 3-4 away win against Lecce, but also the resounding win against Juventus. The Rossoneri, reigning champions, were playing a high-level championship, while Parma, on the other hand, had many interesting players - Giovinco, Mirante, Crespo and Paletta to name a few - and continued to impress. 4-3-1-2 was the form chosen by the Milan coach, Ambrosini-Aquilani-Nocerino the trio in the middle of the field and Boateng supporting the Cassano-Ibrahimović duo up front.
Off we went. The first shots were from the visitors, but Giovinco and Zaccardo did not challenge Abbiati enough. It was a slow start to the game, but on the half-hour mark, Ibrahimović set up Nocerino, who won a rebound and headed Mirante's close-range pass into the net to make it 1-0. Two minutes passed, and the midfielder got his second, this time with a fantastic left-footed volley from outside the box: 2-0. In the second half, AC Milan controlled the match and came close to scoring the third with Aquilani and Cassano. In the 73rd minute, Cassano's header from the back of the box was followed by Ibra's header past Feltscher and into Mirante's net. Robinho squandered a chance, and in the 77th minute, Giovinco made it 3-1. The three points, however, were not in question, and in added time Nocerino completed his hat-trick: Cassano assisted and our no. 22 headed the ball in, sealing the win. For the two goalscorers, it would be a championship - in which we ended runners-up - to remember, with 28 goals in 32 games for Zlatan and 10 in his first season with the Rossoneri for Antonio.
