Another away game at the Olimpico approaches; it's the third of the 2025/26 season. The Olimpico is a stadium full of fond memories for us; it's where we won the Scudetto in 2010/11 against Roma, but it has also hosted some spectacular performances from the Rossoneri against Lazio. In particular, the match on 7 October 2007 stands out as AC Milan, led by Ancelotti, faced Delio Rossi's Lazio. The Rossoneri had a challenging start to that season, with just one win across six matches, and they felt the pressure to get back on track as soon as possible.

The Biancocelesti came into that game with an identical record to AC Milan, one win, four draws, and one defeat, with a total of seven points in the league. Ancelotti's side were coming off a 1-1 home draw against Catania, with Kaká converting a penalty, while Lazio drew 1-1 with Reggina on the road. Kick-off was set for 20:30 CET at the Olimpico with AC Milan lining up in the 'Ancelottian' Christmas tree formation, featuring Gilardino leading the attack, backed by Seedorf and Kaká, and the trio of Gattuso, Pirlo, and Ambrosini in midfield.
Dida was in goal, protected by the back four of Oddo, Nesta, Bonera, and Favalli. The first half got off to an exciting start as the Rossonere took the lead in the 16th minute with Ambrosini's chip from distance that Muslera could do nothing about. Lazio then responded almost instantly, with Mauri equalising from close range with a left-footed strike. Just before the break, Muslera fouled Gilardino in the penalty area, and Kaká converted from the spot to make it 2-1 at the break.

Just seven minutes into the second half, Kaká scored AC Milan's third of the night as he received Pirlo's pass with his back to goal. He then turned swiftly and curled a right-footed shot through the goalkeeper's legs. For the Brazilian, wearing the number 22 jersey, it was his sixth league goal in seven matches. The two-goal advantage opened up the pitch and paved the way for Gilardino to take centre stage. As the match drew close to full time, he scored a brace and opened his Serie A account for the season: the first goal was similar to Kaká's earlier effort, with a right-footed finish through Muslera's legs, while the fifth goal was a masterpiece. Ambrosini fed the ball in, Gilardino flicked it on with his head, and volleyed it beautifully into the top corner. It was a big victory full of joy for the Rossoneri!
