Amad Diallo has been spotted walking gingerly in the early stages of Manchester United’s clash with Tottenham Hotspur this afternoon.

TNT Sports commentator Darren Fletcher highlighted the ‘special’ winger looking uncomfortable and limping slightly inside the opening 10 minutes at Old Trafford.

He remains firmly in the action and has not pulled up to signal any problem to the coaching staff, but it will be worth keeping an eye on how he fares for the remainder of the first half and if he comes back out after the interval.

Amad has retained his spot in the starting XI for the fourth successive game under Michael Carrick, having also been a mainstay in Ruben Amorim’s side throughout the first half of the campaign.

In the 18 appearances that the 23-year-old has made, he has been deployed from the off in 17 of them, returning two goals and three assists in the Premier League.

Over the festive period, he missed five matches due to his participation in the African Cup of Nations with the Ivory Coast, and was sorely missed by the United faithful until his return before the Manchester derby.

He’ll be hoping to make an impact this afternoon as the Reds seek their first win over Spurs since October 2022.

The reverse fixture in North London ended 2-2, with Matthijs de Ligt rescuing a point in the dying embers of injury time with a late header. Prior to that, it was the Europa League final in Bilbao, which saw Spurs reign victorious via a narrow 1-0 win.

That result ensured Tottenham would be playing Champions League football for the current term, despite finishing 17th in the table, while United missed out on European qualification entirely.
