Tommy Watson is expected to be available for loan this summer, with several Championship clubs interested, according to Sky Sports.

The winger wrote himself into Sunderland folklore with a stoppage-time winner against Sheffield United in the Championship play-off final at Wembley. Coming off the bench, he completed the comeback that sent Régis Le Bris’ side back to the Premier League for the first time since 2017.

Watson then joined Brighton in a £10m move, officially signing in June on a long-term deal to 2029. Game time has been scarce, though he scored on debut in a 6-0 EFL Cup win over Oxford United, and he finished 2025-26 on loan at Millwall.

A product of Sunderland’s academy, he made his senior debut in April 2023 against Huddersfield Town. After a back injury disrupted the start of 2023-24, he signed a new three-year contract in September 2023.

His league breakthrough arrived in December 2024 with the first goals of his professional career in a 2-1 victory over Stoke City.
