Ivan Toney has said his numbers speak for themselves as he bids to make the England squad for the 2026 World Cup.
Toney has not been capped for the Three Lions since June 2025, but remains determined to make the squad for this summer’s tournament.
The Al-Ahli forward has scored prolifically since leaving the Premier League for Saudi Arabia, with 58 goals in just 76 appearances across all competitions.
The 29-year-old is the top scorer in the Saudi Pro League this season with 20 goals from 20 games, clear of players including Cristiano Ronaldo, Joao Felix and Mateo Retegui in the race for the Golden Boot.
Toney was linked with a Premier League return in January, with Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham and Manchester United among those linked.
However, he has reiterated his happiness with life in the Middle East. He believes his goal record is enough to convince Thomas Tuchel that he deserves a place on the plane for the World Cup.
“Never say never,” Toney told Sky Sports News when asked about returning to the Premier League.
“I have goals I want to achieve here first, the club have signed me for a long period of time.
“I want to repay them and bring trophies. In football and life, you never know what’s around the corner. Who knows what the next step is?
“I’m comfortable here and like being here. I’m doing well, my numbers speak for themselves and I’m settled. I’m enjoying my football and don’t see why I’d leave to go back to where I was.”
