FC Bayern’s second team kicks off its new Regionalliga season on Friday. While on-field success is important, the focus at the academy remains primarily on developing the most promising young talents. These young players could soon make the leap to the first team.

FC Bayern II kicks off its sixth consecutive Regionalliga season on Friday with a home game against newly promoted SC Eltersdorf. Despite a difficult preseason that included four losses to strong opponents, the Munich team enters the season as the favorite.

The season will be particularly exciting because of the new head coach. Dante is taking the helm as head coach for the first time following the end of his playing career. The former Bayern defender explained his decision: “Of course, I could have taken a break after my playing career, but this opportunity at this club and the chance to work with young players was just too special.”

For the club’s leadership, promotion isn’t the main priority anyway. Developing the next generation of Bayern pros remains far more important. These talents could take the next step

The Bayern amateurs have particularly promising young players in the defensive line. High hopes are pinned on center back Cassiano Kiala, who is currently still recovering from a syndesmotic injury. Filip Pavic, who is just 16 years old, and Raphael Pavlic are also considered highly talented.

In midfield, Allen Junior Lambé is likely to come into the spotlight. The 17-year-old already made his first appearances in the Regionalliga last season and could now be a regular in the starting lineup.
