Toppmöller first took over the Frankfurt reins in summer 2023 on a three-year deal. The 44-year-old has now extended by a further two seasons to the end of 2027/28 ahead of the team's final Bundesliga match of the season away at Freiburg.

None could be happier with the agreement than Toppmöller himself: "It's a matter close to my heart to be here and to stay here. I'm incredibly proud to be the head coach of Eintracht Frankfurt. We've made excellent progress this season, and our journey together is far from over.

I'm very excited about the future at Eintracht and am convinced that we'll celebrate many more great successes together. We'll achieve the next one on Saturday in Freiburg."

The Eagles go into the game on the verge of history as they look to qualify for the UEFA Champions League for the first time via their league position. They currently sit third, just two points above opponents Freiburg and three clear of Borussia Dortmund.

In his first season as a Bundesliga manager in 2023/24, Toppmöller took the side to sixth, and back into European football. This year, they're 10 points better off with a game still to play and sit on the cusp of taking the step up to Europe's premier club competition.

The decision will be music to the Frankfurt faithful's ears, and it's one managing director Markus Krösche is equally delighted with: "Especially compared to the previous season, a significant improvement is evident – both on an individual and group level.

A key factor in this positive development is the outstanding work of head coach Dino Toppmöller and his coaching team. Under their leadership, the entire team has taken a significant step forward in terms of stability, structure, and playing maturity. In particular, they have succeeded in developing young and talented players and establishing them at a top level. "

He has simultaneously engineered a run to the UEFA Europa League quarter-finals and integrated youngsters such as Nathaniel Brown, Nnamdi Collins, Jean-Mattéo Bahoya and Oscar Højlund into this season's Champions League charge, of which they're in pole position going into the final Bundesliga matchday.
