Tottenham Hotspur have no intention of entering the race to sign Mason Greenwood this summer, according to the Daily Mail.

The 24-year-old is expected to leave Olympique Marseille this summer, and a few clubs have registered interest in the Englishman.

Having worked with new Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi at Marseille, reports from France claimed that the Italian tactician was planning a sensational reunion with Greenwood.

Marseille have reportedly placed Greenwood on the chopping block as they work through their financial challenges, and Spurs were named as one of several clubs in Europe lining up a £43.3 million bid.

However, the Daily Mail have moved swiftly to shut down those rumours, making it clear that De Zerbi isn’t interested in bringing Greenwood to Tottenham.

One of the teams paying attention to Greenwood’s situation is AS Roma.

However, the Italian side are understood to be some distance away from meeting Marseille’s valuation of the former England international.

Any future transfer would also benefit Manchester United, who negotiated a 40% sell-on clause when Greenwood left the club permanently last year.

Tottenham have been included in the transfer discussion partly because of the relationship between Greenwood and De Zerbi.

The Italian manager has even described Greenwood as an ‘exceptional’ player, but isn’t planning to join the race for the striker.

Greenwood was in sensational form for Marseille last season, bagging 26 goals and 11 assists in 45 appearances across all competitions.

He helped Marseille qualify for the Europa League with 16 goals and seven assists in 32 league games.

Despite his form, Marseille’s financial situation has forced them to consider parting ways with the former United academy graduate.

However, Tottenham are looking elsewhere for attacking reinforcement and are also moving forward with strengthening other areas of De Zerbi’s squad.

Spurs have already agreed personal terms with Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali, who is also wanted by United and Arsenal.
