Tottenham Hotspur will consider bringing former players back for the right roles, according to The Times.

Toby Alderweireld recently revealed that he would love to return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium club.

Spurs defender Ben Davies is also expected to step up after he finishes playing, either into a coaching or strategic position.

Alderweireld has admitted that he would love a strategic role at Tottenham, and both of them could now be appointed to key roles as the Lilywhites look to rebuild things after a woeful season.

They finished 17th in the Premier League campaign, two points above the relegation zone, and changes are needed from board level to the dressing room and the pitch.

Daniel Levy left Spurs as executive chairman last September, and the club has been short of football leadership.

Former Tottenham stars with knowledge and experience of the North London club could be perfect for some positions, and both Alderweireld and Davies fit the bill given their years of service there.

Davies joined Spurs from Swansea City in 2014 and has made 363 appearances across 12 seasons.

A one-year extension to his contract was triggered last summer and he is not likely to sign a new deal.

Alderweireld spent six seasons at the club, making 236 appearances for them before leaving and later retiring as a professional footballer at the end of the 2024-25 season.

He could be a solid addition to the club and fans will be looking forward to the appointment of some of their former stars.
