Tottenham Hotspur could revisit their interest in Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones this summer, according to The Times. The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium club showed interest in bringing the Liverpool star from Anfield in the winter transfer window. However, Spurs opted to sign Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid for about £35 million instead. Whether or not they stay in the Premier League would determine whether they also revisit their interest.
The Reds would let the Gallagher fee act as a benchmark for their asking price for Jones as they view him as a superior English talent at the Anfield club and is a year younger than the Tottenham star. Spurs are also eyeing a deal for Liverpool full-back Andrew Robertson, and he is expected to join them if manager Roberto De Zerbi keeps them up. West Ham United’s defeat to Newcastle United on Sunday means Tottenham will remain in the Premier League next term with a win or draw against Chelsea tonight.
Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi is also set to join the North London club in the summer once it is confirmed they will be playing in the top-flight next term. Adding the Argentine and Robertson to their defence will be huge for Spurs, and Jones will also be a solid recruitment. The midfielder has a year remaining on his Liverpool contract and is valued at about £35m. He can also feature at right-back, on both wings and as a defensive midfielder, and his versatility will be great for Tottenham. However, Inter Milan are also keen on recruiting his services and more suitors could join the race as Jones could be leaving the Merseyside club this summer despite making 48 appearances this term.
