Tottenham Hotspur defender Destiny Udogie has spoken about being threatened with a firearm for the first time.
The Spurs star was out with a friend in London in September when the incident happened.
The club have supported Udogie since a football agent threatened him at gunpoint, and he has admitted that the incident shocked him.
“The club showed me good support and was next to me every day,” the Italian international told The Athletic.
“I’m really grateful to them for what they have done and for keeping my family and me safe. It’s really good for me.
“Obviously, it was important (to feel that support). Because it’s a new city for me. It’s my third year (at Spurs) but obviously London is a big city.
“So to be here with my family and my daughter, it’s good to have the club around me.
“Yeah, of course. It was not something I’d wish on anyone. It was a shock. But it’s okay, now we look forward.”
Udogie was not hurt during the incident, and the agent has been banned from contacting him and visiting Spurs’ training ground.
He has moved on and will be hoping to help Tottenham enjoy a successful season.
They have won just one of their last seven Premier League games, and manager Thomas Frank will be eager to turn things around.
Spurs are back in action tomorrow when they host Brentford, and they need the home fans to support them in a game they desperately need to win.
