Manager Roberto De Zerbi is moving quickly to reshape the squad to suit his style, with the goalkeeping position identified as a top priority for change.
Current number one Guglielmo Vicario is expected to leave this summer after an underwhelming season.
Vicario has yet to feature under De Zerbi following hernia surgery, and the Spurs hierarchy are ready to sanction his departure.
A return to Serie A is the most likely outcome, with Juventus tracking him as an alternative after missing out on Liverpool’s Alisson Becker. Inter Milan are also interested.
Tottenham have turned their attention to Chevalier. The 24-year-old Frenchman joined PSG from Lille for €40 million and initially established himself as the first choice under Luis Enrique.
However, he lost his starting spot to Russian keeper Matvey Safonov. Chevalier’s lack of game time in the second half of the season ultimately cost him a place in France’s World Cup squad.
Chevalier is renowned for his distribution, boasting an 88 percent pass success rate, the highest among Ligue 1 goalkeepers last season.
PSG are reportedly willing to cut their losses on the goalkeeper, but Tottenham may have to fend off competition from Aston Villa.
They have also been linked with Chevalier, who they view as a possible replacement for Emiliano Martinez.
