Tottenham Hotspur have expressed their interest in signing Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford in the summer transfer window, according to GOAL.

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium club are preparing for life without Guglielmo Vicario even if they survive relegation, and Trafford has emerged as a target.

However, Spurs are not the only ones keen on the England international, with Liverpool, Chelsea, Aston Villa and Newcastle United also interested in his services.

The 23-year-old will consider his future in the summer after losing his starting spot to Gianluigi Donnarumma, but he will not be joining Tottenham should they drop to the Championship.

Man City manager Pep Guardiola claimed back in August that Trafford is “a strong man and huge personality,” and he will not be short of suitors in the summer.

He has made 14 appearances in all competitions this term, playing in all their Carabao Cup games, which culminated in victory over Arsenal in the final.

Spurs could do with such a solid goalie going forward, but they need to retain their top-flight status to boost their chances of pipping competition to his services.

They are 18th in the Premier League table ahead of their final five games, two points off safety, and manager Roberto De Zerbi will pull out all the stops to ensure they stay up.

Tottenham are without a league win in 2026 and will have to be on a different level to pick up enough points when they take on Wolverhampton Wanderers, Aston Villa, Leeds United, Chelsea and Everton in their remaining games.

A 95th-minute equaliser denied them all three points against Brighton & Hove Albion last Saturday, and they will fancy their chances of winning their next game this weekend.

Spurs can attract Trafford and other top players in the summer should they stay up, and De Zerbi will be desperate for a squad rebuild as he looks to improve their fortunes next term.
