Tottenham loanee Luka Vuskovic has revealed that he probably broke his finger after hitting the post in frustration on a memorable home debut for Hamburg.
The centre-back joined the Bundesliga side on loan for the season last month after deciding that he was not yet ready to compete with the likes of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven at Spurs.
The 18-year-old made his first Hamburg appearance in a 5-0 defeat by Bayern Munich but had a more enjoyable experience when featuring on home soil for the first time on Saturday.
Vuskovic scored the opening goal in a 2-1 win over Heidenheim, despite injuring himself earlier in the match.
After missing a good chance in the first half, Vuskovic smacked the post with his right hand and in doing so likely broke a finger that has caused him problems in the past.
“I probably broke a finger," Vuskovic told German newspaper Hamburger Morgenpost.
"It’s an old injury. I broke my finger a few months ago. But I was so angry about missing such a great opportunity that I hit the post with my hand. It will heal, don’t worry."
Vuskovic was seen after the match with his right hand heavily bandaged.
He was still in high spirits, though, having put that miss behind him to score a goal and put Hamburg on their way to a first Bundesliga victory of the season.
