Thomas Frank is set to remain in charge at Tottenham Hotspur for Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund, despite speculation surrounding his future.

Frank’s position is under threat following a disappointing start to his tenure at Tottenham. The North Londoners are 14th in the Premier League table and suffered a last-gasp defeat to struggling West Ham at the weekend.

The result leaves Spurs nine points adrift of the Champions League places, while Frank’s side have won just one of their last seven games in the Premier League.

Frank was booed down the tunnel after the West Ham defeat, alongside chants of ‘sacked in the morning’. Speaking at full-time, captain Cristian Romero called the club’s current plight a ‘disaster’.

“At this moment this is a disaster for us,” he said. “We played sometimes good, sometimes bad. We must work hard and go again. It’s a difficult moment for us. We are not the best on the pitch.”

Performances have been slightly better in Europe, and Spurs sit 11th in the Champions League standings, ahead of facing a Dortmund side just one place above them. Spurs are outside the top eight – which secures automatic progress to the last 16 – by one point.

The Tottenham board are understood to be considering Frank’s future, but no decision will be made before tomorrow’s game.

The Athletic are reporting that Frank will address the media on Monday, before taking charge for the Dortmund fixture.
