Tottenham Hotspur are now open to sanctioning a loan exit for goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, with Serie A heavyweights Juventus stepping up their interest, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

Vicario’s future with Spurs has become increasingly uncertain after a challenging last couple of months.

Having initially established himself as a reliable presence under former manager Ange Postecoglou following his arrival from Empoli in 2023, the 29-year-old lost his starting spot to Antonin Kinsky during the latter stages of last season.

With head coach Roberto De Zerbi favouring Kinsky as his number one and veteran Martin Dubravka arriving as back-up, Vicario is set to seek a fresh challenge away from North London.

Juventus have identified Vicario as their preferred solution to strengthen their goalkeeping options. While the Bianconeri previously explored alternative targets—including Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez—negotiations stalled due to differences in valuation.

Vicario’s proven track record in Italian football, combined with his desire to return to Serie A, has made him the frontrunner for the role in Turin.

Although Tottenham initially sought a permanent transfer to recoup a significant portion of their original investment, the Spurs hierarchy are now receptive to an alternative arrangement.

A loan deal with an option or performance-related obligation to buy would give Juventus financial flexibility while allowing Tottenham to facilitate the departure of a player seeking regular first-team football.

Vicario was notably omitted from Tottenham’s pre-season tour squad, further signalling that an exit from Hotspur Way is imminent.

With all parties aligned, Vicario looks set to complete his return to Italy before the start of the new campaign.
