Tottenham Hotspur’s transfer activity is already taking shape ahead of the summer window, with reports emerging that the North London club has submitted a £30m bid for Wolves left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri. According to Africafoot, Spurs are pushing to finalise a deal for the Algerian international amid interest from Liverpool, Arsenal, and West Ham.
While no other sources have yet confirmed the bid, the report suggests Tottenham are currently the frontrunners to sign Ait-Nouri. However, Wolves are believed to value the defender closer to £50m, raising questions over whether Spurs will increase their offer or look elsewhere for reinforcements.

Tottenham’s defensive struggles this season have been well documented, with Destiny Udogie’s injury issues leaving a gap in the squad. Ait-Nouri, who has impressed despite Wolves’ inconsistent campaign, is seen as a viable option to provide competition in the left-back role.

Spurs’ ability to invest heavily in the summer is strengthened by their strong standing within the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR), meaning they are not restricted in their spending. A left-back is not the only priority, with a new striker also high on the agenda, but the club’s proactive approach suggests they are keen to rebuild in key areas.
Tottenham are not alone in their pursuit of Ait-Nouri, with Liverpool and Arsenal both linked with the full-back. TEAMtalk previously reported Liverpool’s long-standing interest in the 22-year-old as they look to strengthen their defensive options, particularly with Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas both struggling with fitness issues.

Arsenal, meanwhile, are also reportedly keen, as they prepare for potential departures in the full-back department. Kieran Tierney is expected to leave, while Oleksandr Zinchenko’s long-term future remains uncertain, making a left-back signing a priority for Mikel Arteta’s squad.
Despite reports of Tottenham’s initial £30m bid, Wolves are expected to demand closer to £50m for Ait-Nouri, given his contract situation and value to the squad. Although his current deal expires this summer, Wolves hold the option to extend it for another year, ensuring they are under no pressure to accept a cut-price deal.
It remains to be seen whether Spurs will be willing to meet Wolves’ valuation or whether interest from Liverpool and Arsenal could complicate negotiations. With the transfer window still closed, any offers at this stage are likely to be informal, but Tottenham’s intent is clear—they want to strengthen their squad early and get ahead of their rivals in the market.
For Spurs fans, the reported pursuit of Rayan Ait-Nouri is an encouraging sign that the club is planning ahead for the summer window. After a season filled with inconsistency and injuries, strengthening the squad is essential, and the left-back position has been a particular area of concern.

Ait-Nouri would be an exciting addition. His technical ability, attacking instincts, and defensive resilience make him a strong fit for Ange Postecoglou’s system. While Udogie has shown promise, his injury record means Spurs need a dependable alternative, and Ait-Nouri could provide exactly that.
That being said, there are concerns over the price tag. Wolves reportedly value him at £50m—a significant fee for a player who, while talented, has yet to prove himself at an elite level consistently. If Tottenham are serious about making the move happen, they may need to be prepared to negotiate upwards, but at what point does the deal become too expensive?
The presence of Liverpool and Arsenal in the race also complicates matters. Both clubs have stronger recent records in the transfer market and could offer Ait-Nouri the opportunity to compete for silverware immediately. If Tottenham want to convince him, they must act decisively and present a compelling vision for his role in the squad.
Regardless of the outcome, Spurs moving early in the transfer window is a promising sign. After years of reactive signings, a proactive approach could be exactly what the club needs to compete at the top level again.
