That ban ended in July and Paratici has been working with Spurs as a consultant for several months, which involved advising on the summer transfer window and also the club's managerial search following the departure of Ange Postecoglou.

"While this is a new structure, it's probably important to say it's not completely new," Venkatesham said.

"Fabio has been working for the club as a consultant. He has been giving us advice, for example, during the transfer window and also during the process we appointed Thomas.

"So it's new, but in some ways not completely new."

Paratici is one of two sporting directors now in place at Spurs, after Johan Lange was promoted to the role from his previous position as technical director.

The club are also looking to bring in a director of football operations to further add to the new leadership structure in place.

In the announcement of Paratici's return and Lange's promotion, Spurs described the decision as "uniting two proven leaders with complementary experience".

Asked how the pair will split their various responsibilities, Venkatesham said. "They will definitely both have their areas of focus, but they will be working as a partnership.

"In terms of Johan's areas of focus, he'll be focused on scouting, performance, football insights, performance analysis and he'll also be focused on the academy.

"Fabio will be more focused on players, the transfer window and the loans and pathways department.

"They have different focuses but the reality is they will work together on everything and in particular they'll both come together on squad planning and player recommendations."
