Tottenham’s Guglielmo Vicario joins Italy squad despite hernia surgery | OneFootball

Tottenham’s Guglielmo Vicario underwent a hernia surgery some days ago but he has now joined the Italian national team’s camp ahead of their big World Cup playoff against Northern Ireland.

Gazzetta dello Sport – via TMW, report that the goalkeeper joined the Azzurri camp in the last few hours. He arrived in Bergamo last night and he is now expected to stay with the team until Tuesday, when the playoff final will be played.

The Spurs man will not feature and it is just a gesture of support from him, which is an indication of how Rino Gattuso has managed to come up with a close-knit group. 

The injury isn’t expected to be keep him out for too long either. If Italy do qualify for the World Cup, he will be expected to be the back-up for Gianluigi Donnarumma.

The Tottenham player has been linked with a move back to Inter, who remain keen on signing him.
