One of the most notable features of the recent game between FC Barcelona and Sevilla in La Liga, which ended in a 5-2 win for the Blaugranes, was the return of the midfielder Gavi to the pitch.
With this appearance, the Spaniard ended a six-month wait to return to the pitch. This was already the second major injury in Gavi’s still-early career, and SPORT has cited the journalist Xavi Campos to report that the recovery process for this second injury was significantly harder for the midfielder than that for the first one.
His first injury was a very serious rupture of the ACL and meniscus that kept him out of action for around a year. The second injury was focused on the meniscus, and had a shorter recovery time, but it generated more fears, more anguish, and more suffering for the player.
The fact that his second injury was related to the first one, Gavi remained fearful that another rupture could happen as his workload increased in the latter phases of his recovery process. The Barcelona starlet even came to doubt his abilities and faced some moments of very low spirits.
Ultimately, he overcame these psychological problems, and this was apparent with the confidence with which he played against Sevilla. For now, he remains in contention for a place in Spain’s World Cup squad, and hopefully, he will be able to make it to the international tournament after such a difficult time.
