FC Bayern are pressing ahead with their transfer plans for the summer and have apparently developed a clear plan in their pursuit of Anthony Gordon. The Newcastle United attacking star is at the top of Munich’s list – but the process is proving complicated
According to consistent media reports, the German record champions are currently leading the race for the England international. In addition to FC Bayern, Liverpool FC and FC Arsenal are also said to be showing great interest in Gordon. Nevertheless, Munich believe they are in a good starting position – also thanks to a well thought-out strategy
As BILD reporter Heiko Niedderer reports in the podcast „Bayern-Insider“, FC Bayern is pursuing an unusual approach, according to which those responsible want to deliberately avoid direct negotiations with Newcastle United for the time being
Instead, the initial focus is entirely on Anthony Gordon himself. The idea behind this is clear: if the Munich club succeeds in convincing the 25-year-old that he only wants to move to FC Bayern, it would significantly improve its own negotiating position
This tactic is nothing new in the international transfer business, but is becoming increasingly important. Players who are clearly committed to a club can increase the pressure on their current club and thus pave the way for a transfer
Sky Sport previously reported that Gordon is open to a move to the Bundesliga, but competition from the Premier League remains a factor in the transfer poker

The financial conditions in particular pose a major challenge. Newcastle United are reportedly demanding a transfer fee of more than 85 million euros for their attacking player, a sum that FC Bayern are apparently not prepared to pay
According to information from BILD, Munich’s pain threshold is significantly lower than that. The record champions would be prepared to invest around 60 million euros for Gordon – a difference that is currently seen as a key obstacle in a potential deal
The hope at Säbener Straße is that Newcastle could be put under pressure by external factors, in particular Financial Fair Play and the possibility of missing out on international business, which could prompt the English club to adjust its demands
In sporting terms, Gordon would undoubtedly be a boost for FC Bayern. In 152 competitive games for Newcastle to date, the attacker has scored 39 goals and provided 28 assists – figures that underline his importance for the Magpies.
