Former Premier League striker Troy Deeney stated he wouldn’t be surprised if Chelsea made a move for Newcastle striker Alexander Isak.
It was well documented the Blues were looking to sign a striker in the summer having pursued Victor Osimhen for the majority of the window.
The club were also linked with Jhon Duran whilst a deal for Samu Omorodion fell through at the last minute and he ended up joining Porto instead.
The Blues have Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku as their striking options and whilst the France international hasn’t had much of a look in, the Senegalese has shown it may not have been a bad thing to not sign a striker.
Jackson scored his seventh league goal of the season with a brilliant finish against the Foxes, a goal he made for himself following some brilliant work off the ball.
The Senegal international has started every Premier League game this season and Jamie O’Hara believes the striker is on fire and proving people wrong.
Chelsea enquired about Isak in the summer.
With the January window around the corner Chelsea have been linked with a move for Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap although the Blues aren’t expected to move for a striker until next summer.
Chelsea believe in Jackson having given him a two year contract extension keeping him at the club until 2033, but Deeney has stated he wouldn’t be surprised if the Blues made a move for Isak.
“He’s a finisher. I wouldn’t be surprised if Chelsea get him,” he told talkSPORT.
“But they’ve spent a lot of money on everyone basically. So I don’t know if they would go again, but Isak is a proper finisher.”

Chelsea enquired for Isak in the summer and given the money Newcastle would demand it’s unlikely the Blues would return unless the price dropped drastically.
Isak is without doubt one of the best strikers in the league, but I would have to say the chances of him joining Chelsea would be remote at best.
