Troy Deeney has picked his best 11 performers on the pitch from the weekend’s action.
The Premier League team of the week (and manager) that have most impressed him.
Included in his dozen choices are two from Newcastle United.
I can’t disagree.
Troy Deeney explains why he has picked out Sandro Tonali and Harvey Barnes for his Premier League team of the week, then the full eleven (twelve) are listed below:
Sandro Tonali (Newcastle):
“Since he has come back from his ban, the Italian has been frightening.
“He has been looking like one of the best midfielders in European football.
“He has everything to his game – he can run, can score, can tackle and his run and finish for the goal was excellent against Manchester United.”
Harvey Barnes (Newcastle):
“Everyone saw how well he did.
“He stepped up for Newcastle with Anthony Gordon being out.
“Two good goals, really dynamic, driving past people. Goals always change games and Barnes was excellent.”
Can’t disagree with that.
As Newcastle United fans, we all know just how good Sandro Tonali has been this season. Now the rest of football is finally beginning to catch up on that fact. Scoring goals like he has done against Man U and Brentford, on top of his superb all-round game, doing no harm in getting this belated outside acclaim Tonali deserves.
As for Harvey Barnes, he is simply a goals machine. Now showing the benefit of getting a rare run in the first team and he has played a full part in this current run of five wins in a row.
