Anatoliy Trubin enjoyed what could be one of the finest nights of his career, scoring the goal that sealed Benfica’s 4-2 Champions League win over Real Madrid.
According to Glorioso 1904, the Ukrainian’s strike at Estádio da Luz put him into the competition’s history as only the seventh goalkeeper to score in a Champions League match, across both formats.
Before Trubin, the feat was achieved by Lazio goalkeeper Provedel. The list also includes Pantalic, Butt, who scored three times, Piot, Enyeama and Bolat.
Trubin also became the first goalkeeper to score in an official match for Benfica.
Valued at 28 million euros, he has started 33 competitive games this season for Benfica, 17 in Liga Portugal Bwin, 12 in the Champions League, two in the Taça de Portugal, one in the Taça da Liga and one in the Supertaça.
Across 2,925 minutes on the pitch, the Ukrainian has registered one goal.
