Tunisia crushed Qatar 3-0 in the Arab Cup 2025, yet both teams crashed out as Palestine & Syria advanced after tense draw.

Full match details, standings & analysis

Tunisia delivered one of the standout team performances of the Arab Cup 2025 dismantling hosts and Asian champions Qatar with convincing 3-0 win at Al Bayt Stadium.

However the dominant result was not enough to lift the Eagles of Carthage into the knockout rounds, with the group standings ultimately favouring Palestine & Syria.

The breakthrough came early when Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane exploited loose touch from goalkeeper Meshaal Barsham and slotted home in the 16 minute.

Despite enjoying over 60% possession, Qatar rarely threatened and were punished again on the hour mark as Yassine Meriah rose to power header from corner doubling Tunisia’s lead.

Even after being reduced to 10 men following second yellow to Seifeddine Jaziri, Tunisia capped the night in style through substitute Mohamed Benali who drilled home third in stoppage time (90+4’).

The result marks dramatic collapse for Qatar who arrived as:

  • Reigning Asian Cup Champions (2023)
  • One of six Arab nation already qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup

Yet, on the biggest stage, the Maroons failed to turn possession into meaningful scoring chances.

They leave the tournament with:

  • 1 point
  • 0 wins
  • 0 goals scored

A performance far below expectations for squad packed with tournament experience.

Tunisia end the group with:

  • 4 point
  • +1 goal difference

But ultimately, earlier slip ups.. notably conceding late against Morocco proved costly.
