With Jude Bellingham sidelined for a month due to a recent injury, Carlo Ancelotti now faces the difficult challenge of finding a suitable replacement for the midfielder who was pivotal in Real Madrid’s success last season.

Bellingham’s injury occurred during a training session on Friday, leaving a significant gap in the team just as the season gets underway.

This setback means that Ancelotti will be unable to rely on his preferred BMV combination in the upcoming league matches, starting with this Sunday’s game against Valladolid.

What are Ancelotti’s choices?

At present, the logical choice for Ancelotti would be to turn to Luka Modric or Arda Guler to fill in for the injured Bellingham.

Modric, with his vast experience and technical ability, could slot seamlessly into the team without requiring a change in formation.

It must be noted that for the past two games, Ancelotti has opted for a 4-3-3 formation, positioning Bellingham in a deeper midfield role to orchestrate play. Modric, for his part, can simply fit into that role.

On the other hand, the youthful Guler offers a different dynamic with his energy and creativity, potentially providing a fresh spark in the midfield.

Incorporating the young Turk into the starting lineup might require a tactical shift to a 4-2-3-1 formation, allowing him to play centrally.

Or if Ancelotti wants to stick to his usual approach, Federico Valverde might move to the left, allowing Guler to occupy the right side of the midfield.

In any way, selecting Guler would automatically mean Ancelotti wants to go out all guns blazing, while Modric’s selection would understandably portray that the manager wants to have a controlled and balanced midfield.

With Bellingham now unavailable, Ancelotti must decide whether to maintain this setup with Modric or introduce Guler and adjust the formation accordingly.

The decision will likely hinge on the balance between experience and youthful exuberance, as Ancelotti weighs the stability provided by Modric against the energetic presence of Güler.
