FIFA has announced that around two million tickets have already been sold for the 2026 World Cup during the first & second sales phases ahead of the historic edition to be hosted across U.S, Canada & Mexico.

The 2026 tournament will be the first World Cup with 48 team, up from the traditional 32 and will take place from 11 June to 19 July 2026.

Hosts dominate early ticket sales

In official statement, FIFA confirmed that the initial sales phases saw "unprecedented demand" from fans across the world, with the majority of tickets snapped up by supporters from the three host nation:

  • USA
  • Canada
  • Mexico

Strong demand also came from:

  • England
  • Germany
  • Brazil
  • Colombia
  • Spain
  • Argentina
  • France

Next phase: random draw ticket sales

FIFA added that the third ticketing phase will be run via random draw starting on 11 December with applications accepted until 13 January 2024.

By then, fans will know how teams are distributed in the groups as the World Cup draw is scheduled for 5 December. After the draw, supporters will be able to:

  • Choose specific matches they want to attend
  • Select ticket categories
  • Decide how many tickets they want for each game

To enter the random draw, fans must be registered with FIFA ID. Successful applicants whether fully or partially allocated tickets, will be notified by email, with payments to be completed in February 2026.
