Injured against Manchester City, Arsenal's rising star set to miss around two months
Two months out for an Arsenal star!
Arsenal will have to cope without one of their key men from the start of the season. English winger Noni Madueke, who was subbed off at halftime during the clash with Manchester City (1-1), has suffered a knee injury that will keep him sidelined for about two months. While tests confirmed he avoided a cruciate ligament rupture—which would have effectively ended his season—the 23-year-old will still face a lengthy spell on the sidelines. British media estimate his absence at between six and eight weeks, a timeframe not yet officially confirmed by the club but one that now appears inevitable.
This setback couldn't have come at a worse time for Arsenal. Madueke, signed this summer, quickly established himself as a lethal attacking weapon in Mikel Arteta's system. With eight appearances already in the London shirt, he had stood out for his explosiveness and ability to create danger down the right wing. His absence weakens a squad already ravaged by injuries, with Gabriel Jesus, Kai Havertz, and Martin Ødegaard also unavailable.
For the Gunners, this new injury adds to an already lengthy list and complicates squad rotation during the demanding autumn fixture schedule. In the coming weeks, Arsenal will have to negotiate several crucial matches, including a League Cup tie against Port Vale on September 24, not to mention their European commitments. Madueke's absence will force Arteta to rethink his attacking setup, likely handing more responsibility to Leandro Trossard.
The impact extends beyond the London club. Madueke is now expected to miss England’s next two international windows—a major blow for Gareth Southgate, who was counting on his versatility to boost the attack. The English winger, who has been making great strides, will now have to use this enforced break as an opportunity to come back stronger both physically and mentally. While his absence is shorter than the worst-case scenario feared, this setback is a stark reminder of how fragile squad balance can be in a demanding season where every absence weighs heavily.
