Leicester City suffered two fresh injuries for Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Ipswich, with Fran Vieites and Jeremy Monga both ruled out.
According to LeicesterMercury.co.uk, Vieites, due to back up Jakub Stolarczyk with Asmir Begovic sidelined by an ankle problem, twisted his knee in Friday training and missed out. Under-21s goalkeeper Harry French was named in a senior matchday squad for the first time.
Manager Gary Rowett indicated Monga had a minor issue, so Dujuan Richards was recalled to the squad. The Chelsea loanee did not get on at Portman Road.
Louis Page’s omission was a selection decision, with Hamza Choudhury back fit to deepen Rowett’s midfield options. Rowett wanted more experience on the bench for this fixture.
He explained that, for this type of game, he preferred experienced players such as Joe Aribo, Jordan James and Choudhury to cover the middle. Rowett also praised Page’s talent and balance, but said pragmatism is required at this stage of the season.
Vieites and Monga join Begovic, Jannik Vestergaard, Harry Souttar, Victor Kristiansen and Aaron Ramsey on the injury list, leaving City with seven players out.
