UCL: Arteta heaps praise on Viktor Gyökeres

Arsenal thoroughly outclassed Atlético Madrid (4-0) on Tuesday night in the Champions League. Viktor Gyökeres, who netted a brace, finally broke his goal drought, much to the delight of Mikel Arteta.

Many expected a tight contest between two sides renowned for their defensive solidity. Yet, after a goalless first half, the Gunners completely turned the game around by scoring four goals in just thirteen minutes. Jan Oblak was powerless against the London onslaught. In the post-match press conference, Mikel Arteta made no attempt to hide his satisfaction:

I am extremely proud of my players. We beat a very good team. We had to be aggressive but also patient. In the second half, we managed to up the tempo and exploit the spaces. We were clinical.

The Arsenal manager also praised his Swedish striker Viktor Gyökeres, who had been goalless for several matches:

Thanks to him, we are a much stronger team. He is powerful, creates space, holds up the ball well, and scores crucial goals. His two goals today are a great reward. I hope he keeps this momentum going.
