Juventus prepares to face Borussia Dortmund, a traditional European giant that has been in fine form from the start of the season. Borussia Dortmund is going into the match with confidence, but also with some key injuries.

RECENT FORM

Dortmund has started the Bundesliga season well. A 2-0 away win at Heidenheim and a convincing 3-0 home win against Union Berlin have given them some good momentum. There was a minor set-back with the 3-3 away draw against St. Pauli, a match in which Kovac's team struggled to cope with the intensity of their opponents.

KEY PLAYERS

Serhou Guirassy is the main threat in attack with physicality, goal-scoring instinct and a constant presence in the box. Alongside him, Fábio Silva brings speed and unpredictability, while the arrival of Pascal Groß adds experience and balance to the midfield. Dortmund counts on fast players in wide areas, capable of creating a numeric advantage, one of Dortmund's most effective tools.

PLAYING STYLE

Borussia Dortmund seeks a balance between defensive solidity and quick attacks, relying heavily on the speed of its wingers and counterattacks. The team likes to press high up the pitch to win the ball back quickly, but can struggle against opponents who are able to manage possession and break up the rhythm. Another area that should not be underestimated is their danger from set pieces, with several players being very strong in the air.

PREVIOUS ENCOUNTERS WITH JUVENTUS

The history of matches between Juventus and Borussia Dortmund is full of excitement and memorable matches. In 1993, the two teams played each other in the UEFA Cup final. Juventus came away convincing winners, beating BVB both in the first leg in Germany and the second leg in Turin, lifting the trophy with an aggregate score of 6–1.

Two years later, in the 1994-95 season, there was another double-header in the UEFA Cup semi-final. The first leg ended in a draw at the San Siro, while in the return leg at the Westfalenstadion, Juve came out on top and progressed to the final.

The most bitter memory for the Bianconeri remains the 1997 Champions League final in Munich, which was won by Dortmund. Revenge came in 2015, when Juventus knocked out Dortmund in the Champions League round of 16, winning both in Turin and in Germany.

The last meeting dates back to the summer of 2025, a friendly match in Dortmund, which Juventus won. Overall, the history books are in favour of the Bianconeri, who have collected more wins than the Germans, confirming this challenge as a great classic of European football.
