After missing the Mainz match, the Guinean striker is expected to make his European comeback next Wednesday.
Serhou Guirassy
Serhou Guirassy is set to make his return on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, against Athletic Club in the second round of the Champions League. His coach, Sebastian Kehl, is hopeful the Guinean striker—ruled out against Mainz due to a thigh issue—will be fit for the clash.
Dortmund were without Serhou Guirassy against Mainz on Saturday, September 27, in the fifth matchday of the Bundesliga. After his team's victory, head coach Sebastian Kehl was asked about the condition of his top scorer just days ahead of the UEFA Champions League group stage's second round.
"It's nothing serious. I'm very optimistic; I think he'll be able to play on Wednesday. This is his competition. He wants to score goals. We'll need him," Kehl said on ZDF's Aktuelles Sportstudio.
Guirassy had taken a knock to his thigh during BVB's home win over Wolfsburg (1-0) the previous week and trained with the injury for a few days. His absence was a precautionary measure to ensure he would be fully fit for the Dortmund vs Athletic Club showdown.
