According to a report from RMC Sport, UEFA are investigating Michael Olise’s (24) ‘intentional booking’ during Bayern Munich’s 6-1 first-leg victory against Atalanta in the RO16 of the UEFA Champions League. The French international forward was booked in the 77th minute.

Olise received a yellow card after taking too long to take a corner. The former Crystal Palace attacker has already been booked twice in the competition, which means he will miss the inconsequential second leg against the Serie A side with the Bundesliga champions holding a commanding advantage heading into the reverse fixture.

Was Olise’s booking intentional?

The Frenchman has now removed the potential threat of suspension later in the competition. With a headline knockout tie against Manchester City or Real Madrid awaiting the Bavarian outfit in the quarter-finals, Europe’s footballing body is investigating the suspension to see if it was intentional so that the 24-year-old would be available later in the competition.
