It was a complicated match for Francesco Magnanelli's lads, who were playing away from home on a difficult Turkish pitch: the best chance for the Bianconeri came after ten minutes, Lorenzo Biliboc’s delivery from a free-kick from the right-hand edge of the penalty area was missed by a Turkish defender who failed connect with the ball, which then fell to Francesco Verde, but the ball ricocheted just wide off the Juve defender.
Trabzonspor reacted strongly, causing some problems on the counterattack through Yigit Kemal Turan: however, it was Juventus U20 who again came close in the 16th minute when Alessio Vacca's right-footed shot was deflected wide. The hosts' applied more pressure as half-time approached, with Onuralp Cakiroglu's header missing the target, as well as Bicaen Tibukoglu's left-footed effort going wide.
Juventus' best chance came at the end of the first half: in the 42nd minute Biliboc picked out Vacca from the left, who in turn teed up Francesco Crapisto who fired goalwards from close range, but Ahmet Dogan Yildirim - the Trabzonspor goalkeeper – denied him with a great save.
In the second half the Bianconeri started the better of the two sides, in the 50th minute Federico Savio was found by Crapisto, but failed generate sufficient power or accuracy with his shot. Just when Magnanelli's side looked to be the more likely to open the scoring, they suffered a setback: in the 61st minute Trabzonspor took the lead thanks to a well worked corner kick routine that ended with Turan striking a left-footed shot to beat Riccardo Radu.
The Bianconeri Under 20's introduced reinforcements off the bench, and the substitutes twice came close to nearly making an instant impact in the 75th minute, with Gabriele Finocchiaro delivering a cross into the middle for Diego Pugno whose effort went just wide of the target. The Bianconeri striker came close again with a header shortly afterwards, but he was once again unable to find the target.
The Bianconeri applied more pressure in the closing stages, but unfortunately they were unable to find an equalising goal, despite coming close in the 91st minute when Juventus had the biggest chance of the game through Rayan Djahl who, with the goal at his mercy in front of him, smashed his header into the ground and consequently the ball bounced over the crossbar.
It ended 1-0 to Trabzonspor, which brings Juventus U20’s UEFA Youth League campaign to an end at the Round of 32 stage.
