Hull City boss Sergej Jakirovic slammed his side’s “unacceptable” defending for Charlton’s second goal in their 2-1 defeat.

Hull’s play-off hopes are out of their hands heading into the final day after their defeat.

“The second goal, it’s unbelievable, it’s unacceptable that this guy is alone,” Jakirovic said.

“He’s dribbled through three players – I think it’s too far away from me – of course, he scored the goal, and then we tried everything, but this is football; we missed our opportunities, our chances. Congratulations to Charlton.”

Reflecting on his side’s promotion hopes, he said: “I think that every team in this league has had this moment in the season. Unfortunately, we have now this moment. If you can’t win one game from seven, then everything is very clear.

“We must be satisfied with this season and the end, of course, now it’s frustrating, but after the season, when you look back, it will be a very good season for us.

“Now we will see what will happen today, tomorrow, and then we will see if we need something in the last round, but now it’s not in our hands, so we will see.”
