According to Le Progres, Adidas’ website ran out of the letter V for Germany shirt printing on Wednesday after a surge in orders following the 7-1 win over Curaçao.

An online notice said the character was temporarily unavailable. The company moved to reassure supporters that the issue would be resolved quickly and that affected shirts could return online very soon.

Within hours, fans could again order names for Deniz Undav, Kai Havertz and Aleksandar Pavlovic.

Adidas outfits 14 of the 48 teams at the World Cup. For Germany, this will be their final tournament with the company before Nike takes over the kit deal.

The World Cup is a key sales window for the Herzogenaurach-based group, which expects to generate one billion euros from the tournament, from the official ball to team apparel.
