Liam Rosenior has agreed with a controversial quote from last week that it’s “obvious” Chelsea are building one of the best teams in the world.

A meeting between a Chelsea club director and fans last week is already becoming pretty infamous.

The quote that emerged was that it is “obvious” that Chelsea are building one of the best teams in the world.

Of course following a week with two bad defeats, that was bound to be thrown back at them. They don’t have to answer questions about it, but Liam Rosenior does. Which is unfortunate, as it wasn’t him who said it.

But the manager was asked in his press conference if he backed the belief that this team was being built into one of the best.

“Yes, I do. I think it’s really difficult because you want to be successful in the now. I want to be successful right now as everybody does,” Rosenior said.

“At the same time, you have to plan for the future. There’s an idea for this club to be successful in the long term, for a long time. Not just for one year but to have consistent success. If you want to build something, you need to make sure the foundation is there and then the results follow.

“I know the plans, I’m excited by the plans. I’m excited to be a part of it.”
