Manchester United and Chelsea played out an entertaining draw in blustery conditions with both teams still remaining unbeaten.

The home side had started the brighter of the two with Elisabeth Terland and Jess Park both having great chances to score on the counter.

But it was the WSL holders who took the lead after winning the ball high up on the right side before Catarina Macário back-heeled the ball into the path of Wieke Kaptein to finish well past Phallon Tullis-Joyce in the ninth minute.

United's equaliser came from an unlikely source when Anna Sandberg saw the ball sit well for her on the edge of the area before hitting the ball on the half volley on the edge of the area, beyond the reach of Hannah Hampton.

Marc Skinner's side were in control for most of the first half after that with the midfield making the most of superior numbers as Park and Ella Toone dropped in to help Hinata Miyazawa and Julia Zigiotti Olme dictate play.

The weather conditions worsened in the second half but again United came out well with Toone having a great opportunity on the edge of the area after neat build-up play but seeing her effort go wide.

Much was made of United's small bench against Liverpool last week, and while there were more players available for the Red Devils it was Chelsea who had an embarrassment of riches to choose from.

As the game went on, Sonia Bompastor was able to bring on the likes of Alyssa Thompson, Sam Kerr, and Guro Reiten and in the end if it was the visitors who looked like they might have snatched a late winner.

In the end, a draw was a fair result with Chelsea knowing they will finish the weekend top of the table regardless of what happens elsewhere.
