Uruguay v Spain, set to conclude Group H at the 2026 World Cup, is under threat due to severe weather forecasts over Guadalajara.

According to Superdeporte, Tropical Wave 11 moving along Mexico’s Pacific coast could bring heavy rain and a high chance of thunderstorms on the day of the match.

The most adverse window is expected between 16:00 and 22:00, covering the scheduled 18:00 kick-off. Rainfall could reach around 30 litres per square metre, with lightning considered the primary risk.

FIFA’s safety protocol allows a temporary suspension if lightning is detected within 13 kilometres of the stadium.

Organisers are monitoring conditions and will decide based on the weather in the hours before and during the fixture. The same protocol is applied in Mexico at sports events such as Liga MX.
