Even though he has done a solid job so far, everyone knows that after the tournament, the former Tottenham Hotspur head coach will retreat from the USMNT.

With that, many questions were raised about Pochettino’s commitment to the national squad and whether he is thinking about his next move after the World Cup.

USMNT coach Mauricio Pochettino responds to AC Milan rumors

According to The Athletic, Mauricio Pochettino has reportedly been in talks with AC Milan representatives about a head coach position after the World Cup.

In a post-practice press conference, the Argentine coach confirmed he is in discussions with the US Soccer Federation about a potential contract extension.

Mauricio Pochettino already has the highest contract a coach has received in the USMNT, $6 million per year.

“We have friends in football, we have friends everywhere, and my representative works for me to try to find the best possible future”, adding, “That is normal.”

When the Athletic journalist asked about his meeting with the Serie A team, Pochettino went straight to “No”; however, the former head coach for Chelsea explained:

“My representatives may be possible, because they need to do their jobs.”

Regarding the speculation that he is not fully focused on the World Cup and is instead thinking about a potential job after the tournament, Pochettino explained:

“People that question my commitment [are] people that want to create some problem.” While also pointing out: “Our commitment is the World Cup, and we are focused on the World Cup.”

It could be true that Pochettino's future with the USMNT doesn’t continue after the competition, yes; however, people need to let the man work and not create any problems around a national team that has too many injuries and expectations.
