Switzerland have called Valencia duo Eray Cömert and Filip Ugrinic for friendlies against Germany and Norway, the last squad before the final World Cup selection for the United States, Canada and Mexico. As reported by AS, both are in Murat Yakin's group.
Cömert's club fortunes have flipped in recent months, from not featuring under Carlos Corberán to an automatic pick in central defence. He has started eight matches in a row and scored two valuable goals for Valencia. His form has earned a recall, and he was also in Switzerland's Qatar 2022 squad.
Ugrinic has also been rewarded, returning to the national team almost a year after his last call-up. The midfielder's most recent Switzerland outing was on 18 November 2024 against Spain. He has four caps, and his displays for Valencia have reopened the door.
Switzerland face Germany in Basel on Friday 27, then Norway in Oslo on Tuesday 31 March.
Cömert and Ugrinic are due back on Wednesday to prepare for Celta's visit to Mestalla on Sunday 5 April at 16.15.
