Valencia lean on Largie Ramazani’s revival

Largie Ramazani’s resurgence has jolted Valencia, turning a fringe winger into a decisive starter. According to Superdeporte, he went from the exit list to a run of starts. He then opened the scoring at the Ciutat de València, and the win sealed, for the first time, victories in both derbies in the same season.

When the window opened on 1 January his future looked away from Mestalla. He had 133 LaLiga minutes, no starts, and missed six games through injury, while the club prioritised a striker and a winger. Umar Sadiq arrived on loan and the wide threat was already in-house.

Beyond minutes, the shift is psychological and competitive. Ramazani has restored pace, verticality and one v one threat, and when chances came he delivered. He has 14 LaLiga games with three goals and one assist, including three in his last five against Espanyol, Levante and Villarreal, plus one in four Copa del Rey ties, five in all, and he has taken penalties.

His change is also visible without the ball. At La Cerámica against Villarreal he led Valencia for recoveries with eight, had a team-high three shots, the third-most final-third passes with 13 and two crosses, earning Carlos Corberán’s trust.

A key driver is his understanding with Sadiq. The pair bonded at Almería’s promotion, when Sadiq hit 18 and Ramazani eight, and in Valencia the partnership has reawakened under survival pressure. In the Levante derby both scored.

His reaction sets the standard. Valencia now need others to follow, notably Javi Guerra for greater leadership and continuity, Arnaut Danjuma for consistency and end product, and Diego López to sustain freshness out wide and take responsibility in the final third.
