Valencia have opened talks over signing De Haas from Famalicão as they seek to reinforce their back line. CEO of football Ron Gourlay activated the move in recent days and head coach Carlos Corberán has approved the target.
Discussions are under way with the player’s camp and his club, who expect an official offer. De Haas is one of three options under consideration, with Eintracht Frankfurt’s Aurèle Amenda also viewed, according to Tribuna Deportiva, but finances are complicated.
A Bola reports that Famalicão are pushing to renew and that Benfica are monitoring the situation. An extension is viewed as a weaker possibility, with the defender keen on a step up. The club know a sale now avoids losing him for free in the summer.
Real Oviedo and Celtic tried to sign him last August, but Famalicão wanted around four million euros. He has continued to impress, and competition for the 25-year-old centre-back could be Valencia’s biggest hurdle. The Portuguese club’s stance will depend on the offers that arrive.
Under FIFA rules he has been free since 1 January to speak to other teams. If Famalicão hold firm, he could agree a move from July 2026. Demands above two and a half to three million euros risk losing him for nothing, and Valencia must secure Singapore sign-off to invest.
Valencia scouts Hans Gillhaus and Lisandro Isei know the former PSV defender well. Their recommendation built consensus to pursue him, with staff highlighting his left foot, reading of the game and strength in aerial and ground duels.
