Valencia led through Luis Rioja but lost 2-1 to Real Betis at La Cartuja, conceding late to Fornals after a penalty leveller.
According to Superdeporte, the visitors played reasonably well for long spells, yet faded after the substitutions and were punished at the death.
Dimitrievski had little to do, beaten only from the spot and by Fornals. Foulquier’s display was error-strewn and he failed to block the decisive shot. Copete was otherwise solid after being penalised for a foul on Ruibal, then was replaced.
Cömert delivered a steady shift. Gayà offered threat and his cross preceded Rioja’s opener, though the winner arrived down his flank.
Ugrinic covered ground and imposed himself. Pepelu was below recent standards and missed a penalty that would have put Valencia ahead earlier.
Danjuma started brightly and won the spot-kick, then faded. Lucas Beltrán supplied a classy assist and created danger but lacked a finish. Hugo Duro worked tirelessly and contributed to the scoring move.
Head coach Carlos Corberán set up well, but the changes stalled Valencia’s momentum. From the bench, Almeida made little impact, Sadiq threatened sporadically in isolation, Santamaría lacked intensity, and Diego López could not alter the course.
