Real Madrid racked up their 10th win in 11 league games this season on Saturday, continuing their stellar run and extending their lead at the top of the table.
It was an all-round performance from Los Blancos created an xG of 2.80 and ended up scoring four goals – numbers that show how clinical they were in front of goal against Valencia.
Added to that, they were rock-solid at the back and ensured to keep a clean sheet, limiting Valencia to their area and barely conceding any chances of importance.
Real Madrid captain Federico Valverde spoke to the media after the game, highlighting the team’s performance and everything that the men in white did right to take all three points against Valencia.
“We had a spectacular first half. At 3-0, it’s normal to relax, but we have to keep improving and try to minimise mistakes.
“In the second half, we dropped off a bit, but that’s part of the result. When you’re so far ahead, you allow them to create chance.”
He went on to talk about the areas where the team continued to lack, the efforts required to keep growing, and the specific areas where they must work to become further formidable.
“We have a lot of quality players. I always like to highlight that pride in hunting the ball when the opposition has it.
“Pressing as quickly as possible when we lose it. That’s when we have the most chances.”
“We have to keep working on that. There are some very talented players who are making a huge effort to win the ball back and those of us at the back are very proud of their work,” he added.
Valverde was then all praise for his teammate Kylian Mbappe who is in red-hot goalscoring form and again netted a brace last night against Los Che.
“He’s spectacular. We have to enjoy him and get the most out of him.
“May he continue to score goals for Real Madrid and for himself, so that he can continue to add to his tally on this short journey that has just begun here.”
“He still has a lot to achieve and he will do so because he has all the qualities and is one of the best in the world,” he added.
Finally, Valverde was asked to comment on Alvaro Carreras’ wonder strike which served as the final nail in the coffin for Valencia.
“He has a spectacular shot. He’s always shown that in training. He works hard and is keen to keep growing and improving to make his mark at this club.
“He deserves it, he’s a good player and a good person.”

One of the goal scorers on the night, Carreras, also faced the press and spoke about how he managed to score such an outlandish goal.
“I always say that you don’t think about these things, they just have to come naturally. Thank God I scored my first goal in this jersey and I’m really happy.”
Speaking on how he felt opening his tally as a Real Madrid player and scoring his first-ever goal at the Santiago Bernabeu, the player said,
“I’m proud. In the end, these things happen, and I wasn’t in any rush. I know my job is different, but whenever I can help the team, I’ll try to do so.”
Carreras then highlighted how last night’s win was an important one for Los Blancos as they take one step at a time.
“We knew it was really important to stay up there. We’re taking it one game at a time.
“We’re already focused on the next one, but we knew this one was important to maintain our lead.”
The left-back then went on to praise the team for the unity and belief they had in themselves and in the manager.
“We have a very important mentality. When we press after losing the ball, we’re really good, and keeping clean sheets is what will give us wins.”
Finally, the defender gave his two cents on completing a clean sweep of victories at the Santiago Bernabeu so far, to which he said,
“I always dreamed of coming here. It’s crazy to play in front of all our fans.”
