Real Madrid will entertain Olympique Marseille at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium this Tuesday night as they look to secure a win at home in the UEFA Champions League. Los Blancos managed to earn a 2-1 victory away at Real Sociedad, which should keep them in good spirits ahead of this game.

Xabi Alonso will set his men up in a 4-2-3-1 formation and is expected to make some changes to his first team for this clash. Federico Valverde, Franco Mastantuono and Trent Alexander-Arnold could all play from the start of this game.

Defence

Thibaut Courtois will feature in between the sticks for the Madrid giants after conceding one goal in his last outing. Eder Militao will resume his partnership with Dean Huijsen at the centre of Alonso’s defence as they look to keep the opposition at bay during the 90 minutes.

Trent Alexander-Arnold will get a chance to shine as the right-back, while Alvaro Carreras hopes to impress on the other side as the left-back. Alonso will give both of them the license to go forward and express themselves in the final third.

David Alaba will provide cover for the defensive positions on the bench.

Midfield

Aurelien Tchouameni and Federico Valverde will anchor the midfield for Los Blancos as they look to move the ball and engineer some good chances going forward.

The talented trio of Vinicius Junior, Arda Guler and Franco Mastantuono will play just ahead of them as part of the Real Madrid attack. All three of them need to be at the top of their game if Los Blancos are to secure a convincing win this Tuesday night.

Dani Ceballos and Brahim Diaz will have to be content with a spot on the bench as they wait for their chance to make an impact in the second 45 minutes if required.

Attack

Kylian Mbappe will spearhead Alonso’s attack up top. The French striker has enjoyed a rich vein of form of late and would fancy his chances of scoring against Marseille this week.

Rodrygo and Gonzalo Garcia will be named on the bench and might come on to influence the game in the final quarter if needed.
