Van Oevelen seals Ipswich move, not Valencia | OneFootball

Ipswich Town have signed goalkeeper Kayne van Oevelen from Volendam on a five-year contract to summer 2031. The club said in a statement that the 22-year-old will link up with the squad at their La Manga, Spain, camp this week.

The move takes the Dutchman to the Premier League and ends Valencia’s pursuit. Valencia had reached a preliminary agreement with the player, but negotiations with his club broke down over price.

There is no official fee. Some indications put it around 4 million with a sell-on clause, while others in the Netherlands and England suggest 5 million pounds, about 5.8 million euros, figures beyond Valencia’s limit of a little over 2 million for a back-up keeper.

Van Oevelen came through Volendam’s academy and made his senior debut in May 2024. He has 64 first-team appearances in all competitions, including 32 in the Eredivisie in 2025/26.

He said Ipswich’s interest quickly convinced him, and he is keen to develop in England at a club returning to the top flight. With right-back issues addressed, Valencia must now continue their search for a deputy goalkeeper, with Stole Dimitrievski the notional starter.
