Metz and Lille drew 0-0 at Stade Saint-Symphorien, ending the visitors' four-match Ligue 1 losing streak after early VAR interventions set the tone.

In the seventh minute, a VAR check resulted in no penalty for Lille after Matías Fernández went to ground. Alpha Touré then found the net, but a review ruled the goal out (18.).

Before the break, Hákon Arnar Haraldsson and Olivier Giroud both missed presentable openings for the visitors.

After Giorgi Abuashvili's introduction, he drew a sharp save from Berke Özer (69.). Moments later, Félix Correia struck the right post (75.).

Late on, Gauthier Hein's rising effort was tipped into the top of the goalmouth by Özer in the sixth minute of second half stoppage time, and Jonathan Fischer then saved from Gaëtan Perrin.

Lille tallied 16 attempts but hit the target only once. Metz produced six attempts, with two on target.

Metz remain bottom in the relegation zone. Next, Metz host Auxerre in Ligue 1. Lille face Brest at home in Ligue 1.
